Oil gel paint
Oil gel is an oil painting medium made from linseed oil and fumed silica. It is a clear, pale amber gel that adds transparency and a "thixotropic" body to oil paint. The gel is good for glazing . You can add it directly to your paint to give it greater transparency without changing the consistency or mix it directly with pigments to get a thick color and create impasto effects that remain in relief.
The oil gel does not contain drying agents, so it is safe to use with oil paints without worrying about cracking, and it also does not delay the drying time of oil paints.
The gel is mixed directly on the palette with a palette knife. It is recommended to add a maximum of 25% gel to the oil paint for best results.
Fumed silica reflects ultraviolet light!
*Thixotropy, reversible property that makes this viscous gel thinner when mixed with, for example, oil paint. When the gel is left to stand again, it regains its original viscosity.
